I had puppies on the brain when I made this piece-- my husband and I were searching for our future dog (and we found her!). I was thinking about how piles of baby mammals often look to me like sausages, and so I constructed these in that way: I stuffed a pair of pink nylon tights and tied them off like sausages, then added limbs and other details. The pink coloring comes from the tights. The title also reflects the overabundance of puppies and kittens, and how they are treated as throwaway, particularly if they are not 'pure' breeds.
